Every woman wants to have those thick, sexy eyelashes like Katy Perry’s or Kim Kardashian’s. But how do you get such perfect eyelashes all day, every day?
The answer? Eyelash extensions! They are the painless solution to your lash problems. However, getting the appropriate extensions is necessary to avoid irritation, infection or damage to your natural eyelashes. If applied correctly and maintained well, your eyelash extensions can last for years… forever even!
Why Get Eyelash Extensions?
One of the main reasons women get eyelash extensions is for their lashes to look fuller even without mascara – so they look natural and not clumpy at all. Lash extensions are the quickest way to get long, gorgeous eyelashes, which can enhance your eyes. It’s no surprise that a lot of women of all ages are absolutely obsessed with this artful process, and every year it is becoming more and more common…
Back when I started applying lash extensions in 2011 it was a niche beauty service, and now it has become an essential for many women.
Eyelash extensions come from synthetic, silk fibres that are available in different lengths, tints, and curl patterns. You can choose how natural or glamorous you want your eyelashes to be. Just make sure that you discuss this with a professional lash artist to avoid damaging your natural eyelashes because applying long, thick extensions to weak natural lashes, or one in the early phase of a growth cycle will cause the natural lash to be pulled out prematurely.
At The Lash Spa, you can be sure that only professional lash artists who have thousands of hours of experience on eyelash extensions will work on you. You are guaranteed to get the best eyelash extensions on the Gold Coast while being pampered in our luxurious salon.
How Long Do Eyelash Extensions Last?
If your eyelash extensions are applied correctly, you can maintain them for years, though applying them only takes around an hour when done by a master lash technician. Eyelash extensions can last year-round with proper touch-ups and maintenance.
Natural eyelashes fall off every six to eight weeks. Because of the natural lash cycle, it is advisable to get a touch-up every two to three weeks. After a few weeks of your natural lashes falling off (with the extensions attached), you’ll start to notice some gaps in the extensions, while the remaining lashes will have grown out a small amount making them further from the eyelid. An infill will fill in the gaps and make your extensions look like new again…
And when done correctly there will be absolutely no damage to your natural lashes – meaning you never need a break from lash extensions.
Here at The Lash Spa, we take into consideration the length and strength of your natural lashes to determine the perfect thickness of the extensions that can be applied, plus we’ll make recommendations during your lash consultation. We only apply extensions that suit your natural lashes.
Ways to Make Your Eyelash Extensions Last Longer
Now that you’ve got your perfect lashes, how do you make them last?
The cardinal rule on extensions is to keep them away from water for 24 hours after application or retouching. Also, do not use oil-based face products and makeup to keep the eyelash adhesive intact. We do not recommend using mascara. If you must use mascara then use an oil-free mascara (we stock them in the salon), but do some Googling and you’ll find a few you can get from most beauty stores.
After that first 24 hours, you should make sure you’re keeping them clean and give them a gentle wash with a lash cleanser every couple of days. This ensures that the lashes don’t get coated in the body’s natural oils (also bad for the glue if built up), and also that they stay looking perfect. After the wash, give them a brush with a brow spoolie or lash detangler and they’ll be looking great again.
For those who want to have longer and thicker extensions, we recommend the EyEnvy serum. You can use it to extend the natural growth cycle of your natural lashes so that they grow for longer before falling out, meaning you’ll have a larger quantity of lashes (more volume), as well as added length. This extra strength also allows longer and heavier extensions to be applied if that’s the look you’re going for.
High-quality lash extensions, if applied correctly by a master lash technician and regularly retouched, can last a long time and never cause any damage to your natural lashes. Book in with one of our technicians today 🙂
