Are Eyelash Extensions Safe

If you’re considering having eyelash extensions applied for the first time, you may have come across some news articles that look very scary. These articles feature women with swollen, puffy eyes and look terribly uncomfortable.

When you come across these articles, it’s important to remember that these are extremely rare allergic reactions that do not at all represent the safety of eyelash extensions. Eyelash extensions are not harmful to clients when applied safely and correctly.

Eyelash extensions are not only incredibly convenient but perfectly safe for your natural lashes – unless applied incorrectly!

At the lash spa, we take certain precautionary measures to not only ensure the health of our client’s natural lashes but also for their safety and general wellbeing. We pride ourselves on our dedication to safely isolate and apply 1 extension to 1 individual lash. This ensures that the natural lashes are free of any excess weight, free of clumping and of course free of pain.

If a technician were to apply more than 1 extension to each individual lash, or even to the clients’ eyelids (which does happen) it could potentially damage the hair follicles, inhibiting growth or causing pain as the lashes attempt to grow out.

We also triple sterilise our equipment between each client. This is to avoid any implications such as infections etc that can occur due to unsterilised instruments.  A good technician can only provide you with the correct application and detailed aftercare instructions, it is up to you to abide by them.

Take extreme caution when handling lash extensions. Follow the correct aftercare instructions routinely and you’ll be pleased with the longevity of your extensions and the maintenance of your natural lashes. This includes brushing the lashes gently with the spoolie we provide and avoid rubbing your eyes.
