Lash Lifts: Why You Shouldn’t Get Them Before Eyelash Extensions

Firstly, what is a Lash Lift?

A lash lift is a process were the natural lashes are permanently curled and lifted to enhance your natural lashes. We’ve seen good lifts, bad lifts and some pretty horrendous lifts!

Now I don’t want to stray too far from the topic at hand which is the reason why you shouldn’t get a lift before having extensions applied.

Getting extensions on top of a lash lift leaves very little space for the glue to adhere to causing the extension to not last as long. When clients come in with lifted lashes, we always do warn that the extensions may not last as long as they’re used to. Sometimes if the lift isn’t good, it can result in the extensions looking gappy.

Here’s a photo of some natural lashes that have been lifted. If you look closely you’ll notice that the ends are frayed almost as if they have been burnt. The extensions sit in different directions and aren’t straight – making the job pretty difficult for the lash tech.

If you are after a beautiful full set of lashes without any gaps or it being too sparse please wait until you natural lashes have gone back to their natural state before booking an appointment. It can take around 3 to 6 weeks so you may have to be patient.

That way your lash extensions will last as long as possible and will sit nicely on top of your natural lash.
